Virgin Mojito or Mint Lime Mojito🌿🍋🍹- A great refreshing summer drink.
Virgin Mojito is a wonderful mixture of lime and mint. The combination of the tangy taste of lime and the hint of sweetness accompanied by freshness of the mint and the cool fizz makes almost magical and refreshing summer beverage.
Virgin Mojito is my all-time favorite drink. Most of you must have tried it at restaurants but you can try it at home as well as it is super easy to make. It is extremely refreshing, soul stirring, mind refreshing magical drink and also a great drink to serve to guests. This is a non-alcoholic drink so it is perfect to serve at family friendly gatherings as well!☺
I have tried both the “club soda + sugar syrup version” and the “Sprite” version”. But, I personally like the Sprite version, it tastes better. And that is what I have used in this recipe. You can also use Sparkling Water or Club Soda along with Sugar Syrup to make this drink.
Virgin Mojito is super easy to make at home, just follow the detailed, step by step recipe with photos posted below👇
Recipe type: Beverage (Mocktail)
Prep Time: 8-10 minutes
Serve: 1
Taste: Sweet & Sour
Ingredients:
1 lime
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon sugar
200 ml sprite/soda/ sparkling water (if using soda, just double the amount of sugar)
10 to 20 fresh large mint leaves
Ice cubes
How to make Mojito:
- Slice the limes down into small wedges and pluck out the mint leaves from the stem.
- Place the mint leaves and lemon wedges in a thick-bottomed and sturdy glass. Then add sugar, as the rough texture actually helps in the muddling process. Make sure the glass isn't very thin or delicate or it could break during the process.
- Muddling the mint is an essential part of making a good Mojito. Unfortunately, it's too easy to screw up a Mojito by over muddling the mint. Mint leaves contain chlorophyll in their veins. While muddling if you crush or mince the mint leaves, they will release the chlorophyll which is very bitter in taste. And it will make your drink taste quite unpleasant.Unless you are a bartender, you probably don't have a muddler, if you don't have a muddler, you can improvise with a wooden spatula or even the end of a rolling pin.Place the muddler or spatula in the glass. Press down with it lightly on the leaves and give a few gentle twists. You should see juice squirting out from the limes. When your kitchen smells minty, you're done, and your mint and lemon should look something like this:
- Add 1 tablespoon lemon juice and give it a little stir. Make sure the sugar has combined nicely.
- Fill your glass with ice, if not to the top then 3/4 full or ½ full, whatever you want. This is your drink after all☺
- Pour in the sprite or soda or sparkling water.
- Garnish it with a little extra fresh mint leaves to make it prettier and you are ready to beat the heat with a glass of refreshing Virgin Mojito☺👍
Recipe Notes:
- Instead of sugar, you can also use one tablespoon of sugar syrup in each glass.
- You can also use ‘7 Up’ instead of sprite.
